In the early 1900's, a retired band of famous British explorers left their native England and moved to New Orleans where they could relax and luxuriate in fine food, copious amounts of booze, and great music. They brought their collected ephemera with them, and looked to create a place in their new home where they could gather and share tales of their glory days with one another. They took over the small house that now houses The Bell, and turned it into their Explorers Club, filling the walls with their collections, and populating the place with memories of their Mother country. Over the years, that club accepted new members, and they began to host locals, as well. Eventually, their grandchildren decided to turn this Explorer's Club into a proper pub, and The Bell was born.

A Proper Pub

The Bell brings the spirit of the British pub to New Orleans. Perched along sunny Esplanade Avenue, The Bell occupies an historic house with wraparound porch, plus a sun-drenched patio with lush plantings.

Step inside and find yourself in a warm and welcoming place where pints of Guinness are always perfectly poured, the room hums with life, and there's a genuine sense of occasion.

We welcome walk-ins at the bar, in our convivial pub room, and on the patio. For the dining room and porch, we kindly suggest reservations.
